About WebDesignAgenciesList.com
We started this site because most agency rankings answer the wrong question. They tell you who makes beautiful websites, but not who understands your industry. A hospital, a payments startup, and a law firm need very different partners, and a studio that excels at one can struggle with another. Our lists sort agencies by the sectors where their work actually holds up.
What we do
We research web design agencies, review their published work, and match them to the industries they serve best. The site covers eight sectors: healthcare, fintech, SaaS, ecommerce, legal, education, crypto and Web3, B2B. Every listing explains what an agency is good at and, just as important, when you should look elsewhere.
How we evaluate agencies
We start with the agency's own case studies and live client sites, not with directory badges or self-reported awards. An agency earns an industry tag only when it has shipped real, public work in that sector. From there, we look at four things:
- Sector depth. How much published work an agency has in a given industry, and whether it handles that sector's specific problems, like provider search for hospitals or disclosures for fintech.
- Quality across projects. Whether the work holds up consistently, not just in one standout case study.
- Life after launch. Whether clients can update their own sites, and whether the agency offers ongoing support.
- Clarity of fit. How clearly an agency explains who it works with. Studios that know their niche usually serve it better.
Rankings reflect our editorial judgment of these factors. They aren't based on reviews, ad spend, or agency size.
Editorial independence
Agencies can't pay to be listed, pay to rank higher, or pay to remove a "look elsewhere if" note. We sometimes earn revenue from advertising or referral partnerships on the site, and when we do, it's kept separate from how agencies are chosen and ranked.
How agencies get listed
Most agencies on the site were found through our own research. Agencies and readers can also suggest a studio through our Contact page. We review every suggestion the same way: we look for published work in at least one of our eight industries and judge it against the same criteria as everyone else. A suggestion doesn't guarantee a listing.
Updates and corrections
Agencies change. They shift focus, win new clients, rebrand, or close. We review our rankings every quarter and update listings when we find something has changed. If you spot an outdated detail, a broken link, or a client that's no longer accurate, let us know and we'll check it and fix it. Agencies can also request a correction to factual details about their own listing.
